Albania has a diversified culture and great artistic values. Regardless of the foreign influence in its culture, it retains a significant level of homogeneity. Albanian folklore is rich with colorful dances setting on a pulsating rhythm and vibrant music. It is a musical, dramatic, literary and choreographic folklore. It is vivacious, full of energy and flamboyant.

The musical tradition in Albania is very affluent. This is on account of its location in the Balkan region which has a very impressive and remarkable musical heritage. The music in Albania uses a great deal of instruments that vary from region to region. The folklore music shows a great deal of discrepancy, from polyphony to the flute, from bagpipe polyphony to songs of other manner and different instruments on the whole.

The style of songs extends from the heroic songs in the hilly region to complex lieder, which is a type of ballad. The latter is the music common to the southern part of the country usually accompanied by instruments. Lahute is the most common traditional musical instrument in the Northern Albania. Saze is an orchestra in a small kind comprising of four to five instruments that plays an important role for folk dances on some special occasions.  The National Festival of Folklore at Gjirokastra is very famous folklore festival.

Like its rich music, Albania also has an opulent tradition of dances of great variety and multiplicity that with different choreography and colorful costumes depending on the location or origin. The dances can be epic or lyrical. The dances with the peculiarity of elegance, drama and rhythm are the dances of Tropoja, Lunxheria, Rugova, Devoll, and the Rrajca, a couple dance. Also the cam dance of Osman Taga is very famous.
